Now it's time for the hard stuff!

I do not go into pulling off the top skin since that was not a problem with my car.

First separate the lower section of the seat from the top. To do this you remove 2 bolts on each side of the seat.

Pull the lower seat forward to free it from the top seat. Be careful not to pull too far away as there are wires that are connected to the top half!

Now you need to remove the frame from the cushion. There are 2 big torx bolts and 2 small torx bolts on each side.

There is not much holding the metal plate to the cushion. There are two metal clips and some plastic trim pieces. Pry these off with a small screwdriver and lift off the metal pan.

To remove the skin you need to pull up the covers and find the six hog rings. Make a mental note on where and how they are installed as you will need to replace them in the same spots!

Using some needle nose pliers, insert them into the hog ring and force it apart. Once you get all six off the skin will come right off!

Once the skin is off you can decide how to fix pad. You can either replace the whole pad (4718524) for $85 or solder in a jumper wire across the break.

If you are going to replace the whole pad, the easiest way to do this is to cut off the main wires from the old pad and stick the new one on top of the old one. If you try to pull up the old pad, you will rip the seat foam. Ask me how I know!
